Family Worship

Lately, we've been reading many books ( because of a shopping spree at Shalom Ministries) on parenting, and almost all the books talk about having family worship. Family worship is a time ( it can be everyday, once a week) when the family gathers to worship God, and study the Bible together.

We've been doing it informally the past year where we sing a song, do a memory verse, and pray for a nation. It's so great when we say, " Okay, it's time for family devotions, " and the kids run to the room to get their Bibles and the instrument box.

For this year, we're going through a book called Christian Character Qualities, Family Nights Tool Chest by Focus on the Family. It's a great book for the family to go through, and fun activities to teach the lesson to the kids.

Last Sunday, we talked about being content. We memorized the family slogan that said, " Be content with what God has sent." Alvin asked Christen what being content means to see if she understood the meaning of contentment, and she said, "Being content is not whining or crying for other things."

We were so happy that she got it ( in theory, at least)! Now, we've got to work on ourselves...
