Lolo has been so funny and cute, even though she's so mischievous, she's been getting away with murder. One day, she hit her sister, and when asked to apologize, she said, "Sorry, Jie Jie," in a sing-song way. Daddy reprimanded her and told her to apologize, not to sing a song, and I just fell off the chair laughing.
Another time we were in the car, she wanted the water bottle from Chris. She was trying to snatch it, and Chris told her to ask nicely and say, "May I?" She said, " May I, may I?" in a really frustrated tone, and I just burst out laughing again. This is one kid who obeys the letter of the law, but definitely not the spirit of it.
She's definitely a princess - in - training, but a princess of God's kingdom and in my heart, nonetheless.

Princess #2
Princess #2, Lolo, ( is what I call her) has been torturing us and cracking us up at the same time lately.
She has been refusing to put the diaper on to sleep at night, and we always lose the fight to get it on her. So we sneak the diaper on when she's asleep, but she still wakes up crying because she has peed in the diaper, and wants to pee in the potty, so we take her to the potty, and then fight again to get another diaper on her. Of course, we lose again to her multi-fold strategy of thrashing around on the bed while screaming her lungs out that she wants to wear underwear so we can't get even get a grip of her.
So after a week of her wetting her brand-new mattress, and changing bedsheets in the middle of the night, AND trying to get her to go back to sleep again after all the trauma, we were worn out and desperate. But a quick search on the internet saved us. An article said that only 66% of kids below 3 are potty trained at night, and suggested the use of pull-ups. Duh, why didn't we think of that?!!
We went and bought pull-ups today, and told her how they are special underwear for the night. She liked it! For 5 minutes. Then she didn't want to wear it anymore. But Daddy decided it was time she knew who was boss, and after disciplining her, she kept it on.
A valuable lesson learned was that it had been more than just a potty training issue. It was a matter of the heart. Lolo was showing defiance and rebellion, and needed to learn to obey.
As I'm writing this, she's screaming again, and it's 12:08am. Sigh...

Roses from my princess
I wish I took a picture of the red roses Chris bought for me. She had gone out with Daddy to Cold Storage, and when she saw the flowers, she told Daddy she wanted to buy them for Mommy because " I love her very much and want to make her very happy".
I was a very happy mommy that night, and felt so blessed. :)

It's a Boy!
It's been such a long time since I last blogged, I must have lost anyone who was following my postings. I kept thinking, " I'll do it when the first trimester's over".
It's over now, and I'm feeling alot better in the second trimester. Thought I was never going to get past the 'survival' mode, but thankfully, my energy lasts longer, and I feel pretty normal again.
Found out late January that I was pregnant, and for the first time, I could really relate to how Mary must have felt when told she was pregnant. I prayed her prayer, " I don't know what's going to happen, Lord, but be it unto me, according to Your will."
On Wednesday, the doc confirmed that it was a boy. I was in a little bit of a shock, felt so inadequate and clueless about how to take care of a boy. Also, all the stories I've heard of boys came to mind, stories that I've heard and thought, " my princesses would never do that", and now I would experience firsthand what it's like to raise a boy.
Dh reminded me that boys and girls need the same things: love, care, nurture, discipling.
I'm both excited and fearful at the same time, but the Giver of Life will supply everything I need in order to raise 3 children to bring glory to Him.

Family Worship
Lately, we've been reading many books ( because of a shopping spree at Shalom Ministries) on parenting, and almost all the books talk about having family worship. Family worship is a time ( it can be everyday, once a week) when the family gathers to worship God, and study the Bible together.
We've been doing it informally the past year where we sing a song, do a memory verse, and pray for a nation. It's so great when we say, " Okay, it's time for family devotions, " and the kids run to the room to get their Bibles and the instrument box.
For this year, we're going through a book called Christian Character Qualities, Family Nights Tool Chest by Focus on the Family. It's a great book for the family to go through, and fun activities to teach the lesson to the kids.
Last Sunday, we talked about being content. We memorized the family slogan that said, " Be content with what God has sent." Alvin asked Christen what being content means to see if she understood the meaning of contentment, and she said, "Being content is not whining or crying for other things."
We were so happy that she got it ( in theory, at least)! Now, we've got to work on ourselves...

Lessons from Christen
This Christmas season has been special because Chris has come of age to understand, appreciate, and participate in the activities we've done.
We started out making a sock advent calendar to count down to Christmas, and she helped to clip the little socks on the ribbon and to stick the numbers on the socks. She was so excited to see what was in the sock for the day, and I was amazed she knew exactly which day it was. I put treats, verses, time tickets with Mommy and Daddy in the socks.
We've also baked cookies for friends and people around us.
But most of all, it's been special because of the lessons she's taught me. When we were in the car going to a friend's house to have a Christmas celebration, she said, " I don't want to get any more presents. I have enough presents already." At that point in time, she only had one present under the tree. I thought she was just kidding. When our friends gave her a present, she said, " I don't want any more presents." I was thinking, " Well, Mommy would like more presents!" My little one taught me what contentment was.
On Christmas day, we opened presents, and Christen received this Princess stationery set. I knew she had friends who really liked them, and would appreciate it more than her. So I asked if she was willing to give it away to them. She said, " I really like it too, but I'll give it to my friend."
I was so proud of my gal! I was also humbled by her willingness to give, and it reminded me of how God was willing to give His one and only Son to redeem our sins. I have a big lesson to learn about giving.
